I just finished reading the book... man, oh... man!You know, you get a universe established, characters presented and action unveiled. It's all nice and good, you know?
Then, of course, while reading, you start to make predictions, presumptions, you get ideas... And boy, are you wrong.
It's full of surprises and the theme sometimes sends shivers down your spine.
I read books by the dozen but this book (and the one before it) leave you with that feeling.. you know, the one you sometimes (sadly not often enough) get... like, the book is over, you're sad it's over... and nobody around you seems to care. You sit there, in your chair, after reading the book and just wish you could continue. why is it over? there is so much more to tell! so many questions left unanswered.
I just hope the author will continue writing in what is becoming a very good established universe and i'll keep my eye out for the next installment.

Like the first book, the sequel was also a pleasure to read! Wicked story and for that a big praise to the author.
I am looking forward to the next one.
I am a major fanboy of the first book "Mindguard", so I was eager to read this one. It is set about a decade later than the events of the last book and the Earth Enforcement Unit soldier Tamisa Faber has become the new defacto leader of the galaxy. Her fist is very iron, to put it mildly. Her hate and distrust of Mindguards is central to her motivations, although she is also fascinated by Sheldon Ayers. (She has a lot of conflicting ideas it seemed, a weakness?)
The story, the writing and the new characters all lived up to my expectations. As usual the author has no problem making you like someone who is going to die later. Is that cruel? Brilliant? Both? lol. This book is definitely worth the time invested in it. It also sets up the next book expertly, throughout the book instead of tacking it on at the end. New characters are introduced and new situations seamlessly, just as much a part of this book as the next one. (or the one after that if the next one is a prequel, ha)
This book, like it's predecessor, grabs your interest right from the start and is very difficult to put down! The plot is fascinating, dealing with a future in which telepathy has developed among humanity, causing unique challenges including thought crimes and wars. I highly recommend both this book and volume one in this series!
Very interesting book. I really enjoyed the concept of rogue mindguards and their cause. The best part of the series is that all the characters are described in such an unbiased way that you can easily root and empathize with any character of the book, even the ‘bad guys’. With his second book on the mindguard series Andrei Cherascu manages to establish the mindguard universe and have us begging for more.
Painfully slow reading.... I didn't particularly care for the 1st book in this series and the second one is boring me to tears. I'm quitting before finishing the story, something I rarely do. Too many other books to read. Why waste time?
I read the first book which was not complete- it just stopped-really just a blatant and not particularly effective setup for a sequel. Annoying. So I read this one- hoping that it might be better. It was not, and in fact the writing was poorer- the Commander is even more annoying and irrational- the book (the first) had an interesting premise- but this sequel is ridiculous. The writing tends toward the juvenile and as a result character development suffers. The ending again is a non ending- just a push to buy the sequel. I won't bother- sad to see such a promising and interesting start lose any literary appeal- yes, I know people want to sell books- but this tale could have been one substantial novel- had the writing been better and the plots more carefully developed.
